I am the current secretary and a past president of the Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Council. I have lived my whole life in McKees Rocks. I began volunteering at the Center in 1975 when it was located in the basement of the Focus on Renewal (F.O.R.) Center. When the Center applied for and received a grant from the federal government, the first requirement was that the Center be run by a Board of Directors made up of community members and users of the health center. I was asked to be on that original board and have served the organization ever since. The idea was that local people would better know the needs of the community where it was located. The Center has grown and improved over the years and I am proud to have been a part of that.
